Learning with Julia

My name is Julia, and I love learning just as much as I love teaching. Becoming a teacher has allowed me to do both effectively. I have been teaching for approximately a decade, starting with primary schools and moving on to help adolescents and young adults pass their school exams. Nowadays, I mainly teach Dutch to expats living in the Netherlands and anyone else interested in learning the language.

 

I am not a linguaphile, but I am fond of language. It is not only used to transfer information but is also information in itself. I share my obsession for information with my students, breaking it down until the first principles reveal themselves, or at least until we imagine them ourselves. I have practiced this method in my classes over the past few years and would like to present this approach in written form for others to enjoy and learn from, if they wish to do so.

 

The engineering of Dutch is available on this website and can be purchased in PDF format. The title does justice to the content; it is all about how the Dutch language is engineered. Readers will gain a thorough understanding of the essential aspects of the language and get some practice with those aspects. I recommend this material to anyone interested in the foundation of the language and willing to study it with the help of the written word. If that’s not enough, beginners are welcome to sign up for classes with me, where we can go through the foundation in a dialogue and practice more.
